Team

G&V Maritim's team brings together a diverse skill set, which is utilised to strengthen our investment cases. All members of our team, except one, grew up at the confluence of the Glomma and Vorma rivers—two major Norwegian rivers—inspiring the name G&V Maritim.

  • Pål Vigmostad (General Manager)

    Pål co-founded Netview in 2005, which was acquired by Opera Software in 2012. He worked on products at Opera before becoming a research scientist at NORCE. In his role at NORCE, as well as in subsequent positions as a consultant and at G&V Maritim, he has gained substantial experience in writing large grant applications. 10+ projects under his guidance have received funding of 5 MEUR or more, largely from EU programs. Pål contributes to our investments by securing soft funding and enhancing sales and product development. He holds three master’s degrees from the University of Oslo and BI Norwegian Business School.

  • Tom Nysted (Advisor Investments)

    Tom served as the CEO of one of Norway’s largest energy companies, Å Energi (previously Agder Energi) from 2006 to 2019. Prior to his time at Å, he held management positions in Storebrand, Telenor, Esso and Industri Venture (Kistefos). At G&V Maritim, Tom currently serves as a board member in portfolio companies, and is a member of our investment committee. Bringing a wealth of experience from the energy sector to his roles, Tom also concurrently serves on the Advisory Board for renewable infrastructure at NBIM (Norges Bank Investment Management), one of the world's largest funds.

  • Hans Vigmostad (Chairman)

    Hans has extensive experience from leading and owning several large IT companies. He led and was the largest/large investor in the ICT companies NGL (which sold for 36 MEUR), ESSNET (sold for 100 MUSD), and ESSNET Interactive (sold for 40 MEUR). In addition to these, he has also successfully built and sold several other smaller IT companies. Hans serves as the chairman of the G&V Maritim board and is a board member of one of our portfolio companies, Excess Energy. He holds a degree in civil engineering from NTNU (formerly known as NTH).

  • Truls Gundersen (Advisor Chemical Eng)

    Truls assists G&V Maritim in evaluating new concepts and plays an advisory role in our investments within his area of expertise in chemical engineering. He served as a professor of chemical engineering at NTNU until 2023 and has extensive experience in the design and methodology of industrial plants. Prior to his tenure at NTNU, he worked at Norsk Hydro. Truls holds a Master's degree in Physics and a PhD in Chemical Engineering, both from NTNU.

  • Haakon Riiser (Advisor Computer Eng)

    Haakon's role at G&V Maritim involves evaluating new concepts and providing advisory support for our investments. He is also the CEO of the ICT company Auxios. Prior to joining Auxios, he was the leader of the Core Graphics team at Opera Software. Before his time at Opera, he co-founded Netview, which was later acquired by Opera. Haakon holds an MSc in Physics and a PhD in Computer Science, both from the University of Oslo.

  • Pål Ring (Advisor MechE)

    Pål's primary function at G&V Maritim is to evaluate new concepts and investments, and to advise our portfolio companies in areas such as technology evaluation and design. Previously, he held the position of Principal Engineer at Equinor and DNV. Before joining G&V Maritim, he held various roles at Kongsberg. He is an engineer from Oslo Met.

  • Jan Smedstuen (Board member)

    Jan is the owner and CEO of an accounting firm and previously managed an ICT company. He has extensive experience in accounting and tax law and has collaborated with Hans Vigmostad for many years. Jan currently serves on the board of G&V Maritim.
